How to add a favicon to your site

A favicon, also known as 'favourites icon', is a 16x16 pixel square icon associated with a particular site. Browsers display a site's favicon in the browser's Address bar and next to the page's name in a list of bookmarks. Browsers that support tabs typically show a page's favicon next to the page's title.

Creating a favicon

You can create a favicon through an image-editing application like Photoshop, or simply Google for a host of online tools and applications to help you create one. Use an online tool like FavIcon Generator to create a favicon from an image file.

Uploading and linking up your favicon

Once you've created a favicon simply upload it to your skin's Code screen as a file. Once this is done you need to reference the uploaded favicon inside the Header Code field with the following code snippet:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/path/to/favicon.ico" />

Note that you need to replace /path/to/favicon.ico with the actual file reference to your favicon. Save the Code screen and reload your site and your favicon should appear in the relevant place.
