How to add an activity stream to your site

Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

You can let visitors to your site know what you're up to at the moment: display your latest Twitter updates with a customized widget (aka, "badge") on your Tank site.

Firstly you need to sign-up to Twitter and create an account. Sign-in to Twitter and head over to your Settings. In the Account screen follow the link to add Twitter to your site and select the 'Other' option to continue.

Select either a Flash widget or a HTML widget (we selected a HTML widget below). Grab the code on the next screen and paste it in your site.

This code:

<div id="twitter_div">
<ul id="twitter_update_list"></ul>
<a href="http://twitter.com/withtank" id="twitter-link" style="display:block;text-align:right;">follow me on Twitter</a>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://twitter.com/javascripts/blogger.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/withtank.json?callback=twitterCallback2&count=5"></script>

will result in this stream:

This widget now pulls in your Twitter updates automatically. It can be styled according to your site's skin too.
