How do I upgrade?
Before you upgrade your site you need to either register a domain or alternatively use an existing domain.
Scenario 1: you don't have your own domain
If you don't already have a domain registered we can help you with that: we can register the domain for you, in your own name. If we register the domain for you everything will just work: no further DNS configuration is necessary. We'll ready your domain for Google Apps too: which means you get free email up to 50 users too. You can register as many domains as you require from within the app.
Scenario 2: you have your domain
If you already have a domain registered and want to upgrade a Tank site on that domain there are a couple of options available:
1. Point the a-record of the domain to us
Request your ISP to point the a-records (with and without the 'www') of your domain to 50.19.217.65.
Another way to put it is to map the hostnames @ and www to the destination 50.19.217.65
(Please note this option means your email will remain entirely intact and stay with your current ISP.)
2. Or point the nameserver records of the domain to us
Request your ISP to point the nameservers of your domain to:
- ns1.heytrooper.com
- ns2.heytrooper.com
- ns3.heytrooper.com
- ns4.heytrooper.com
Please inform us of this and we'll do the necessary on this side. Once the nameservers of your domain point this way you will have to setup email via Google Apps too as we are not an email provider.
3. Or transfer the domain to us
Alternatively you can choose to transfer your domain to us. Please note there may be certain transfer costs involved, and a transfer can take up to a week to complete. It might just be easier to try one of the other options instead.
Please inform us of this and we'll send along domain transfer instructions. After transfer you will have to setup email via Google Apps too as we are not an email provider.
